Beechworth Bakery, Beechworth

The Beechworth Bakery Vanilla Slice is lusciously shabby. It was a hot sticky day when we met and the vanilla icing oozed like a nightclub romeo, but it was sweet and soft and clung tenderly to the pastry like a love-sick puppy. The flaky, perfectly cooked pastry was just the right thickness to support the creamy custard and the two hit the tongue like a smooth love song – deep, rich and tasty. A breeze to eat with the hands, it left us licking our fingers seductively. Like a stolen moment of passion we began planning the next rendezvous like an illicit secret.
Beechworth Bakery 27 Camp Street, Beechworth, Victoria. Australia.
Also in Albury, Ballarat, Bendigo, Echuca and Healesville

Beechworth Bakery probably does the best vanilla slice that I recall eating – I think that it is pretty hard to top.
wow those stores are so far away from where i live!
Yum! This looks like the ones I used to get (there are three bakeries on Main Street in Croydon Victoria – the smaller of the three near the newsagency I forget the name has really tasty vanilla slices).
By pure and wondrous good fortune I am off to Beechworth for Easter and will be forced to undertake a little research at the Bakery.
In the meantime I will return to sipping hot chocolate on my couch.
Had one at Echuca recently and it was amongst the best I’ve had!
That looks like creamy goodness! I’m jealous!
We must agree. Rarely do we get to travel out of town without friends asking us to bring a supply of Beechworth Bakery Vanilla Slices!
